Room 4 discovers autumn around our school!

Room 4 went out with our new digital camera to find out how autumn has come to our school.

We saw the leaves on the trees changing colour and falling to the ground. We have taken some photos to show the changes that happen in autumn.

Room 4 Robots

Room 4 made some robots as part of our technology topic. We made a plan first and drew what our robot might look like. We used boxes and glued them together and painted them.  The we added buttons for their controls.  Our robots look amazing- some of them can do some jobs for us in our homes.

How we can look after our world.

Stephanie, Amber and Lucy read a story about how we can look after our world and how we can keep it from being full up of rubbish.  They decided to  reuse an item that was once used for something else.  Stephanie and Lucy made a bird feeder out of a plastic bottle and filled it with birdseed.  They will hang it from  a tree so the birds can come and enjoy the seeds.  Amber used a tin can and glued on some pictures from a magazine.  It will make a great present for her Auntie who can put pens and pencils in it.   What could you  make to help our world???

Room 4 assembly - Monday 7th November 2011

Room 4 performed a play called Maui and the Sun.  It is a Maori myth.   Maui and his people did not have enough time to do their chores or eat their food because the sun went across the sky too fast.  So Maui and his brothers caught the sun and made her go more slowly across the sky.

Room 4 play rugby

We went out on the school field and played rugby. We can kick and run with the ball. We can pass the ball to our friends. We are good at rugby. Maybe one day we will be an All Black!

Room 4 visit to the Botanic Gardens 27th September 2011

The Junior school visited the Manurewa Botanic Gardens as part of our study on plants.  We learnt about the lifecycle of a bean seed and we planted one in a pot so we could take it home. Then we went for a walk around the Gardens and saw all the beautiful trees and flowers.
